Luxury Design Hotel
Come summer opera season, there's no place quite like Verona. But a trip to the fabled city always included an obligatory stay at a rather unglamorous selection of chain hotels or quirky boutiques. That was until the arrival of The Salviatino Collection that operates its famed Florence hotel and now a historic luxury hotel in the heart of Verona. Located in a renovated 14th Century Palace, Palazzo Victoria is walking distance to the commercial heart of town as well as the Roman Arena Amphitheater home to the summertime opera series. During excavation, many historic elements of the hotel were preserved in what's become a living museum for visitors and hotel guests. At the heart of the property is a lobby construed of marble floors with modern décor palettes that mixes abstract furnishings with glimpses of nature. The in-house eatery is a standout, known as the Brasserie, led by Michelin star chef Carmine Caló who translates modern Veronese cuisine in a sexy and historic setting.
The Room
Plush grandeur in a historic setting, Palazzo Victoria undoubtedly has the best guest rooms in the city with floors trimmed in hand-scrapped hardwood and walls adorned in pristine wainscoting and modern stripped fabric. TVs are recessed inside delicate frames opposite large-picture windows with billowing curtains that open to a Veronese street scene outside many rooms. Granite and limestone bathrooms features a great collection of handmade luxury toiletries with further amenities like heated towel racks and occasional freestanding bathtub.
